Our History and Heritage
Magong Elementary School was established in 1899, marking its inception thirteen years prior to the founding of the Republic. Originally known as the "Mazu Temple Japanese Language Training Institute," it was officially renamed "Ma-gong Public School" in 1900, effectively inaugurating the first chapter of modern education in Penghu. As the oldest and inaugural primary institution in Penghu County, our school has not only witnessed over a century of educational evolution but also serves as the historical progenitor for many elementary schools in Magong City.
A Century of Educational Leadership
Since the early 20th century, the school has played a pivotal role in regional development, fostering the independence of several prestigious institutions, including Zhongxing, Zhongzheng, Wude, Shiquan, Fenggui, and Hujing elementary schools. This storied legacy has earned our institution the esteemed title of "The Mother of Primary Education in Magong City."
The school campus transitioned to its current location in 1933, where it has continued to cultivate academic excellence for nearly a century. Entering a new era of tradition and continuity, Hujing Elementary School officially merged back with our institution as the "Hujing Branch" starting from the 2024 academic year (113th Academic Year). With over a hundred years of cultural depth and scholarly dedication, Magong Elementary School remains committed to guiding new generations of students toward a bright and innovative future.
